Question of the Day from Editors and Publishers

Today's QUESTION FOR DEBATE: Is the Media in the Tank for Obama? By Greg Mitchell
Yesterday we introduced a new daily feature. Every morning we will post a burning, or sometimes offbeat, newspaper industry/media issue here and at our main site. We urge you to comment to get the ball rolling and, we hope, take part in an ongoing debate on that issue. Then another question the next day. Yesterday we led off with a debate on the wisdom of erecting pay walls at Web sites. We got a great response with many cogent and valuable ideas and opinions.
Today's question: Has the press been too easy on Obama? Are they in his Barack pocket? Or are charges of bias way overblown?
You don't have to register. Just hit the comments link at bottom of this and enter your no doubt valid opinion and then return to see what others are saying. Thanks for taking part at the outset as we try to make this grow. -- Greg Mitchell, ed. See article and comment here.

Some brilliant responses given. And then there was my own personal reaction to him:
To be a part of the media require a require a certain level of intelligence. One could easily develop into the recognition that Barack Obama is incredibly unique in every way. And his blazing intelligence and enveloping empathy is something the world has been hungering for.
(Just had 3 min break to stroke my very demanding cat beautiful Garbo).
Working for his election was fun but one felt absolutely compelled to make sure he got elected.
Now that he is the President, for the first time in history there is a dreamed of leader/savior at the helm of America. Every one of his speeches is brilliant, every delivery a chance to hear his comforting confidence, humane soultions to issues and I believe, so why wouldn't reporters?
My husband thinks in the future when Obama has passed on, there will be a new religion based on him. I think political junkies who care about all issues, (and there is not a f..king thing wrong with that!!!) people that are constantly around politicians, namely reporters, just recognize this is good s..t. So, yes, the reporters couldn't help but recognize President Obama is the real thing. He is going to bring peace to the world eventually, maybe after his presidency is over and he will still be on the stage. He is a new world star and it is well deserved.
