I have so much work to do cleaning up debris from dozens of big trees, trimming any ugly dead branches from ancient Rhododendrons, overgrown Boxwoods, and azaleas and trimming all the brown from the evergreens against the house in the back.
I just came in after about one hour of work. Found an injured cardinal on the driveway that must have been caught by one of my many cats. Picked him up and put him on a bed of grass on a tall copper bird feeder but he flew away into a tall lilac bush that is budding up. My garden is spectacular when they all start blooming. The crabapple trees along the driveway are all also budded but the magnolias are already dropping petals.
Being incapacitated for the last couple of years with breast cancer treatment, the horrible infection I had last summer and then Lyme Diseases which was not diagnosed until December kept me from the fastidiousness I maintain on our property. If you don't mind the two acres of yellow flowered buttercups and wild violets all over the grass they actually look quite beautiful. More weeds then grass but I refuse to put any weed killing herbicides or pesticides anywhere. It would get into the water table. I get so pissed off at all the TV commercials for Roundup and other weedkillers. I always bring it up to the garden centers I visit too asking why do you sell poisons? They are thrilled to see me, not. But I am a big spender when it comes to garden centers so they tolerate it. Have not made one purchase of annuals so far as I have to get as much work done as possible before I start. I got my husband to put out our garden furniture so the first thought that springs to my mind is, it's party time. Unfortunately I can't find my camera charger so I can take pictures but I will keep searching so that I can put the pictures up asap here on the blog.
