My own goodbye: Hey Scumdog Millionaire, with all your millions you are are just plain pathetic. Greedy and immoral, you make your wealth from stirring up hate from the 25% of like-minded, merciless, pitiless mean-spirited assholes. You could afford to pay your fair share. But when one is a pig (apologies to intelligent animals) like yourself, ponying up a few percentage points in taxes might encourage others that it's a good thing. Couldn't have that, could you. Bye Bye. Why don't you move to your favorite tax haven before the Prez grabs all the taxes due to the US.
Eloquent goodye better than my own: "People pay for what they do, and still more for what they have allowed themselves to become, and they pay for it, very simply, by the lives they lead." That's James Baldwin. And I take it that it's Baldwin writing about one of the many ways a "self" is constituted. You may be able to escape higher taxes, but you can't escape that life you lead: the anger and fear following you, deep inside. Ultimately, what we do is what we're left with. Thank goodness there are so very, very many who are leading lives of kindness and compassion--they and their actions can overcome your voice.
