Which states consume the most porn?

Yes, the reddest states in the Union, Iowa #1 & Alaska #2, are also our largest consumers of online pornography. Via the American Economic Association, we hear from Benjamin Edelman, an assistant professor at Harvard Business School, who took some trouble to research who exactly are the largest consumers of online pornography. His results are interesting. While online porn use varies relatively little from state to state, there were some very definite trendlines to be found:

Those states that do consume the most porn tend to be more conservative and religious than states with lower levels of consumption, the study finds.

Eight of the top 10 pornography consuming states gave their electoral votes to John McCain in last year's presidential election – Florida and Hawaii were the exceptions. While six out of the lowest 10 favoured Barack Obama.
