My long-time dear friend, Tina Lipkin, got screwed big time today at the County Courthouse in West Chester. She is a divorced single mom and there is simply no justice when the judge is conservative, the attorneys are conservative and the million dollar yacht owner builder is rich and connected politically.
Tina was represented by a lawyer who encouraged her to accept a patheticly small settlement offered that would cover their original client, Chubb Insurance Co.'s payment to the plantiff, Tina, for water damage. The defendant had three attorneys to Tina's lone attorney.
What would you do if you bought a house and it fell apart within the first three months of moving in, and the painting and decorating had just been completed. I can't imagine how this piece of shit house ever passed an inspection. I guess it helps if the builder's sister is a local township commissioner who is currently running for the state senate in Montgomery County, Pa. My friend had originally hired another attorney to file a lawsuit against this thuggish builder but somehow this lawyer just never could get the suit filed after two years and charging her $38,000. Turns out the lawyer and the builder sent their children to the same private school. Coincidence that the suit never got filed?
Right from the beginning the plumbing wasn't hooked up right all over the house, water ran down the walls inside the house and ruined the floors, the beautiful painted walls, the heirloom rugs and furniture. There was an environmental study done on the mold and mildew which was massive and my friend and her son were always sick. The furniture and rugs were her only possessions after a divorce from another cruel millionaire 15 years ago. When she would call this builder to tell him about each problem as it happened, he became abusive and threatening. I used to beg her to go to Radnor Township's monthly meetings and let them know about their fellow commissioner's brother who was the builder and the horrible condition of a brand new house he had just suckered her into buying. For over $900,000.00. She had to move out and had contractors repair everything and she did not even get the money to pay for the repairs. And of course we all know that the house is not worth
even what she paid for it and put into it for repairs in this horrible housing market.
The judge was told that Tina was aggressive, demanding and over the top. I was supposed to testify on her behalf tomorrow as I was a witness to the last five agonizing years. Maybe Philadelphia Magazine would like to do a story on this incident.
