Living in a house that is well over 100 years old with ancient heating oil pipes we are about to embark on upgrading the ones that are no longer pushing heat to parts of our house. The initial price quoted for repairs seemed high, until I got the invoice for our latest oil refill. We usually need to refill at least every 2 1/2 weeks during the coldest part of the winter. Boy, do I wish that geothermal energy could heat our home. It's coming and it can't get here soon enough. Science Daily has a great article on the subject.
"It has been estimated that within the continental United States, there is a sizable resource of accessible geothermal energy -- about 3,000 times the current annual U.S. consumption."
